Tools for the fireplace
Adding logs or coal to a stove can be dangerous. Then there is the need to poke the fire ocassionally. Then there is the sweeping up of ashes that is a regular task. In addition, you need to open the door and toast crumpets on a winter's afternoon
For all four of these tasks, there are tools to help you.
Fire Irons is the collective term for brushes, pokers, toasting forks, tongs etc. that people keep by the fire.
Some Irons are made of cast iron (obviously) but brass or forged steel irons are also popular.
Many are sold as a set with a stand which is known as a 'fire dog'.
